Michael Jordan: His Airness

Michael Jordan - His Airness
Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan's life began in Wilmington, NC, where he dreamed of being a professional basketball player. This documentary follows the life of Michael Jordan -- from his youth playing basketball with his brother (and losing), to his high school days, his scholarship years at the University of North Carolina, his shining years in the NBA, and through his final days with the Chicago Bulls. This retrospective video contains interviews with players, coaches, and sports writers -- all of whom describe Jordan as a man of great talent, skill, determination, and class.

No question Michael's influenced rap's competitive nature, but he also put his stamp on hip-hop fashion with his Air Jordan shoe, which is reinvented each year, differentiated by design and numbered by roman numeral.

Folks from all walks of life lace up the designer shoes, but hip-hop's affinity for the line of sneakers is unmatched. In 1985, the very first Air Jordan model was banned from the NBA because the red and black mock-up violated a little-known league rule which mandated players had to wear sneakers of a certain color. "I gotta lot of love for the I," Bun B said also adding the IIIs to his list of favorites.
